Joe Steen has photographed the homeless for many years and has become their friend. They send for him on special occasions so that he can immortalize their parties and weddings.

That there are homeless people in a Scandinavian welfare state, where security is an extremely high priority - is a scandal. Joe Steen demonstrates this paradox through his photo documentation of the stressed homeless person in the cityscape, captured together with symbols of the security and comfort advertised in the streets of Copenhagen.

Christiania arose as a result of a housing shortage. Occupied condemned housing in Christianshavn was cleared by the police, which is why the young homeless knocked the planking into the nearby abandoned barracks. After 40 years of fighting with the Danish state, Christiania now finds itself in a buying situation. Christiania's self-build tradition is being challenged - as space must be made for 200 new builders who can contribute to paying the purchase price.

During the creative work, internationally and in Christiania, of creating cheap housing solutions, 0-energy houses and container homes, inventors also work with the transportable homeless home and small residential areas with houses for odd existences, students and other homeless people.

Together with Joe Steen's photo exhibition, we therefore have a display of works and models by architect Simon Hjermind Jensen, shjworks.dk - of affordable housing, such as the Nomade wooden tent project.

These tents are partly suitable for low-cost accommodation for students, e.g. on empty building sites and partly for temporary housing such as festival and tourist hostels, homeless SHELTERS for city squares, as well as for homeless villages.
